On the other hand, locating geographically in bird migration flyway (Central Asia and Middle East flyways) from north and northeast of Asia to west and south of Africa provides a good condition for birdwatching in Iran. If you decide to birdwatching in Iran please notice that this country is vast almost 5 times larger than the UK but you could not find birds everywhere like Peru and Colombia in South America, Gambia and Botswana in Africa or India and Indonesia in Asia. The fact is although there are more than 350 bird species in Iran the richness is not high except when wintering migratory birds mostly waders, waterfowls and eagles stay in Iran. The highest diversity belongs to migration time and many birdwatchers prefer spring rather than autumn. The only endemic bird of Iran Pleske’s Ground Jay (Iranian Ground Jay) is possible to see most of the year since its habitat is in open plain of the central part of Iran.
Except birdwatching and nature trekking, Iran has friendly people and if you are interested in history there are valuable UNESCO World Heritage Sites and it is possible to have pre or post cultural tour with Iran birding tour.
